Last week, scouters from all other the country gathered in San Diego for Boy Scouts of America’s National Annual Meeting. Volunteers and professionals come together each May at the National Meeting to discuss scouting’s success over the last year and plans for the coming year. Excitement for Scouting programs was apparent all around the National Meeting, and I am looking forward to bringing all of that excitement back to all of you.
During the National Annual Meeting, Sea Scouts, BSA released a new apparel and clothing line that will help to promote Sea Scouting across the country. More information can be found at seascout.org/news/sea-scout-apparel-available.
Last Thursday, during NAM, the Sea Scouting and Venturing Reception to highlighted some of the accomplishments of the senior scouting programs in the last year. Ship 100, Viking, of San Francisco Bay Area Council was honored with the 2016 National Flagship Award. Several crew members, led by their Boatswain and Skipper, were present at the reception to accept their trophy and their National Flagship flag. Congratulations to the members of Viking for a job well done this past year! The reception was also the location of the National Sea Scout Change of Watch Ceremony from 2015-2016 National Boatswain, Edward Campbell to me for the next year. Distinguished guests, including the new BSA National Commissioner, Charles Dahlquist, pictured to the right, was present.
I am excited to take watch as National Sea Scout Boatswain for the next year. This past year has been exciting for the Sea Scouting program and it will continue to be an exciting time for the Sea Scouting.
