New Badges of Office Unveiled

Live from the BSA National Meeting National Supply has been working hard to make Sea Scout Uniform items readily accessible to our members! As part of this initiative, 16 new round badges-of-office for Ship and Council level positions were created. “These Badges of Office will enhance the appearance of the New Century Universal Uniform (NCUU); and will be consistent with the family of round badges that are in use by all the other BSA programs,” said National Sea Scout Commodore Charles Wurster. Introducing the Northeast Region Leadership

This March, the Northeast Region Commodore swore in Sam Goodman as the Northeast Region Boatswain and Mercedes Matlock as the Northeast Regions Boatswain’s Mate at the Northeast Region Bridge of Honor.  Sam Goodman is a sophomore at Baruch College where he is currently studying accounting as a Dean’s Scholar. He began his scouting career as a Tiger Cub and crossed over into Boy Scouts in 2006. He earned the Eagle Scout Award in July 2011 and joined Sea Scouting  after attending the Greater New York Council’s Aquatics Week summer camp at Ten Mile River. The applications for the 2015-2016 Southern Region Boatswain and the Southern Region Area Vice Presidents of Sea Scouting are now available. Scouts will serve from June 1, 2015 through May 31, 2016. Now Online: Sea Scout Adult Leader Basic Training!

The National Sea Scout Service Committee is happy to announce that a newly revamped Sea Scout Adult Leader Basic Training will now be available online in 6 modules. SSALBT will continue to be offered by trainers around the country, but the online course gives flexibility to our leaders to get trained on their time. Opportunity to Sail Aboard the Odyssey

Last month, we posted about Summer Cruising for All Sea Scouts. One of the ships listed in the Provisional Cruising Report, SSS Odyssey, has an opening aboard the 90′ yawl Odyssey this summer for any Sea Scout Ship, Venturing Crew or Boy Scout Troop with 10 youth + 2 adults. Announcement of 2015-2016 National Sea Scout Boatswain

The National Sea Scout Support Committee announces the selection of Edward Campbell of Albion, Indiana as the 2015-2016 National Sea Scout Boatswain. His term of office is June 1, 2015 through May 31, 2016. He is a member of Ship 5111, Patriotic Pearl, of the Anthony Wayne Area Council, Boy Scouts of America. 2015 Northeast Region Bridge of Honor

Over the weekend of March 20-22, 2015 I had the privilege of attending the Northeast Region Bridge of Honor and Ball in Swedesboro , NJ. 240 Sea Scouts and Scouters from 10 states came together for the weekend to celebrate the many accomplishments of the distinguished youth and adults in our program. I was able to make new friends and reconnect with old ones who staffed and sailed in the 2014 Koch Cup and the Sea Scout Staff from the 2013 National Jamboree.
